Wild Taiwan
Sustainable tea farming
Rolling tea hills
Taiwan’s mountains are home to some of the world’s most celebrated teas, and to the smallholder farmers who have perfected the craft over generations. This immersive journey takes you into the heart of Taiwan’s tea landscapes, where misty hillsides, terraced fields, and cool mountain air create the perfect conditions for exceptional tea.
Throughout the trip, we will visit sustainable smallholder tea farms to gain a deeper understanding of the philosophy and practice behind tea cultivation. You will learn how farmers care for the land, balance biodiversity within their plantations, and nurture the tea plants through the seasons. From walking through lush tea gardens to observing traditional harvesting methods, the experience offers an intimate look at the relationship between people, place, and plant.
The journey also traces the remarkable transformation of tea from plant to cup. Exploring each stage of the process from plucking fresh leaves to withering, rolling, oxidation, and roasting while learning how these techniques shape the character, aroma, and flavor of the final brew. Guided tastings will reveal the subtle complexities of Taiwanese tea and the craftsmanship that goes into every cup.
More than a tea tour, this experience is a window into Taiwan’s living agricultural heritage where sustainability, culture, and craftsmanship come together in the quiet beauty of the mountains.
