ABOUT
Endangered Bintan Langur
ABSTRACT
The Bintan Pale-thighed Langur (Presbytis siamensis rhionis) is an Endangered colobine primate endemic to the island of Bintan, Indonesia. Currently, there is a dearth of available information regarding this taxon, as no studies have been published in scientific literature. The objective of this study is to address this knowledge gap by presenting observational data obtained during a four-day rapid field survey conducted in November 2022, as well as by consolidating anecdotal reports provided by residents. Our findings encompass details pertaining to the langur’s distribution, group size and composition, behaviour, as well as a list of recorded food plant species. Furthermore, we describe the various threats faced by P. s. rhionis and propose essential conservation measures. To find out more about the research, you can download the paper below.
