Join Dr. Wong Siew Te, founder of the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre, and filmmaker Raymond Tan for a conversation exploring the powerful intersection of conservation and storytelling. Through insights from the film Itam, the discussion will reveal the realities faced by the world’s smallest bear, the Sun Bear, and the critical work being done to rescue, rehabilitate, and protect them in Borneo.

Discover the story behind Itam, one of the sun bears whose journey reflects both the challenges of wildlife conservation and the resilience of these remarkable animals. The conversation will also offer a behind-the-scenes look at the filmmaking process and how documentary storytelling can bring hidden conservation stories to global audiences.

Together, the speakers will explore how science, compassion, and storytelling can work hand in hand to inspire awareness and action for wildlife.

Dr. Wong Siew Te founded the Bornean Sun Bear Conservation Centre in 2008. He is trained as a wildlife biologist and has been working on the ecological conservation of the sun bear since 1998. Seeing sun bears in dreadful captive conditions combined with his background in animal welfare and veterinary science and his love for sun bears, the conservation was borne.

Raymond Tan is the Director of the film "Itam: A Sun Bear Story", premiering in Singapore in April. The film is a powerful wildlife documentary that follows the journey of a rescued sun bear from rehabilitation towards freedom in the rainforest.
